Why Australia/New Zealand?

Both countries are part of the English speaking world and offer high quality education systems - academic standards at universities are world renowned. Universities are monitored by the respective governments and qualifications are also readily acceptable overseas. Both countries have been receiving international students and sending their own students abroad for a very long time and there are graduates with Australian or NZ qualifications in most parts of the world today.

You should be aware, that the My Study Australia website has been created for the Australian Education Connection (AEC program), with a view to offering prospective students an opportunity to go to study in Australia and New Zealand semester abroad, year abroad, full degrees, transfer and internship programs at direct enrollment prices. Students from all round the world come to study in Australia and NZ. Both countries are strategically well placed within the Asia Pacific Rim and provide North American students far greater opportunities than just study abroad or an academic period abroad. Other opportunities include tours, travel, internships and even working holiday options.

By world standards, Australia and NZ can be considered some of the safest destinations in the western world.

Universities in Australia/NZ offer a full curriculum including a wide range of subjects that are unique to the individual countries – in Australia,  Marine Biology, Environmental Studies, Australian Studies, etc. and in NZ,  Maori Studies/Indigenous Studies, Cultural Studies, Marine Biology, Environmental Sciences are again popular subject areas. North American students wanting to pursue Semester and Year Abroad programs can choose their subjects based on home university requirements and their career paths. Importantly, most US universities allow students on Federal and State financial aid and loans to continue receiving their aid while studying for a semester or year abroad at an Australian/NZ university. Students coming to AEC partner universities for a full degree program will find that they can use US financial aid to study in Australia and New Zealand. Australian/NZ universities are also well recognized for the facilities they provide students. Some of the facilities at Australian/NZ campuses include: shops, food outlets, bookshops, banks, health and counseling centers, accommodation office, conference rooms, theatre/cinemas, pharmacy, etc. Every university has an International Office which is well equipped to handle the many requirements of international students. The AEC works closely with the International Offices at partner universities to ensure the student’s smooth arrival on campus.

The AEC and the university ensure that matters such as visa arrangements, on-arrival airport reception service, on campus orientation etc. are all managed for the student before arrival.

Living as a student in Australia/NZ can be quite exciting. Australian/NZ universities have excellent facilities and services to cater to the needs of their incoming international students. The universities work hard to ensure that incoming international students are integrated into the campus community to truly experience campus life. Accommodation on and off Australian/NZ campuses is plentiful except for the larger cities which can sometimes experience a shortage of accommodation; careful planning and adequate advance notice to the AEC will ensure that you will have good quality accommodation on arrival in Australia/NZ. There are many opportunities for participation in sporting, recreational and cultural activities in Australia and NZ. Australian/NZ campuses also have clubs and student associations that offer many opportunities for participation in social events. Rest assured that student life in Australia or NZ will become of the best experiences you will have during your stay abroad!
