NOTES

#1 Depending on the option chosen, some meals may be included in the higher price' reflected in the housing budget, where there is a range listed. If you choose an option which does not include a meal option, be prepared to pay $800-1500 towards one semester's catered meals.

#2 At the ANU, you are able to apply for a study semester or a study semester with an internship component. The cost for sthe study semester with the internship component will be the same as the normal study semester.

#3 Bond University runs a year long program. Therefore, semesters begin in January, May and September.

#4 The fees listed here are the minimum you'd need to pay.

#5 The tuition cost depends on whether a student takes a minimum of 3 or a maximum of 4 classes for the semester.

Tuition Fee Data has been compiled in August 2008 The AEC Program offers students direct enrolment. Students pay the university's tuition fee. You may check the university web site to receive an update on university fees. Usually however, if a university increases fees, it is by a small margin.

Services you receive from the AEC free of charge are listed HERE Information on why you should use AEC Direct Enrolment Service is listed HERE

Calculating fees into US or other currencies: Calculate any fees listed in this document into local currency or US$ by using the Currency Converter at the top of this page.

Visa Fee

FOR AUSTRALIA: All students with US and Canadian passports from North America undertaking study abroad will pay a visa fee of A$ 450.

FOR NEW ZEALAND: Students holding US passports currently do not pay a student visa fee if applying for the visa whilst in the USA. Students holding Canadian passports will pay C$170 locally within Canada to the NZ Embassy/High Commission.

Books Allow for A$ or NZ$ 350 for books per semester.

Housing and Meals AEC has listed a Housing Budget against each university's information above. Where the budget could include a meal plan, do not assume this price would cover all meals. For general information about housing, click here. You may require to have additional funds of approximately $500-1500 to cover self catered meals.

Specialist Subject Charges: Some science, engineering, lab and specialist classes can incur additional surcharges.

Additional Spending Money Suggest students allow $1500-$2000 for additional money.

Housing Application Fees and Refundable Deposits: Most housing whether on campus or off campus will have small housing application fees ranging from $25-100. Additionally, housing providers (whether on campus or off campus) do request refundable housing deposits of A$ or NZ$ 200-700. These will be refundable deposits as long as students leave their rooms/housing premises in a clean and tidy manner and meet the obligations of the housing contracts. The AEC will provide you with advice on all the housing options available through the university and beyond.

Telephone/Internet Connection/Linen Packs etc: Many housing providers do include internet and phone connections and you need to pay the charges for usage. Some provide free usage of the internet. Some housing providers give out linen pack for a fee. It is important you check the university's web site.

International and Domestic Travel (allow for US$1300-1900):: Note that airfares, including group airfares are higher now than ever before due to the cost of fuel and surcharges for security at airports.

The AEC undertakes considerable research to provide you with information on all the options available to you - from housing to airfares and beyond. We realize that you may be a student that does not fall within the `one size fits all' package.
