Internships

The AEC now offers an internship program for the following group of students:

• Students who will be participating in an AEC semester or year abroad program. (If you want to know more about participating in an AEC semester/year abroad program, click here.)
• Students who will be participating in their own school’s EAP or exchange programs.

Travel

[The reference to `travel’ here is not intended to be the group airfares that the AEC will coordinate for its semester/year abroad program students. The reference to `travel’ within this section is meant for students who will be participating in an AEC semester/year abroad program and want access to `additional’ travel/tour opportunities!

The following is a list of opportunities you have available through the AEC:

• AUSTRALIAN CITY INDEPENDENT PROGRAM: 10 night backpacker housing in shared dorm style housing in backpacker hostels in any Australian capital city (e.g. Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth …) – Cost of 10 night package for housing is US$300. This package is subject to availability and there are no refunds available on this package.
• AUSTRALIAN MULTI CITY INDEPENDENT PROGRAM: 10 night backpacker housing in shared dorm style housing in backpacker hostels to be used in multiple cities within Australia. For example, you may choose to stay 2 nights in Sydney, 2 nights in Melbourne and 6 nights in Adelaide. – Cost of 10 night package for housing is US$330. This is subject to availability and there are no refunds available on this package.
• AEC MANAGED VISIT THE CAPITAL TOUR IN CANBERRA: 3-10 July and 4-11 December. This tour will be managed by an AEC Coordinator and will visit various places of cultural and historical significance in Australia’s capital city, Canberra. Cost of tour is US$350 and will include shared housing for 7 nights, cost of entry to facilities and public transport, detailed tour guide. These tours are held on dates which coincide with end of semester for those students that wish to visit the Capital prior to their departure home. You can withdraw from the program up to two months prior to the event date, however, a cancellation fee of $75 will be charged to your account.
• AEC MANAGED CITY TOUR OF AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND: 3-10 July and 4-11 December. This tour will be a managed student tour, conducted in consultation with the AEC coordinator in Auckland. The tour will visit various places of significance in Auckland and the surrounding regions. Cost of tour is US$418 and will include shared housing for 7 nights, cost of entry to facilities and public transport or tour bus. These tours are held on dates which coincide with end of semester for those students that want to visit the city of Auckland prior to their departure home. You can withdraw from the program up to two months prior to the event date, however, a cancellation fee of $75 will be charged to your account.

You may purchase any of the above travel/tour packages by downloading and completing the order form below, after you have been offered and accepted admission to an Australian/ NZ university through the AEC program or you have already been offered and accepted admission into an EAP or exchange program through your home school (proof of admission and acceptance will be required.)

Note:

• Non-AEC students (i.e. EAP and exchange students) will incur a surcharge of $40 for any of the above travel/tour packages.
• The AEC reserves the right to cancel any of the above travel/tour packages or to provide substitute options. Any payments made will be refunded in full should the AEC cancel the program. In all cases, there will be notification of cancellation or variance to a program, at least 2 months prior to the event date.
• All completed order forms for the additional travel/tour opportunities must be returned to the AEC with the deposit payment requested on the form.
